چکیده

Introduction: Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is a common entrapment neuropathy worldwide. This study aimed to investigate the temporal changes in electrophysiological parameters untreated patients with CTS. Methods: Patients were recruited among those symptoms of CTS who referred electrophysiology laboratory Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University Bor Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Hospital Niğde, Turkey. Forty-nine (78 hands) had not received any sort treatment for prior examination postive included. Laboratory records reviewed retrospectively. Recent compared their examinations using Wilcoxon signed-rank test sign was used compare change severity hands between two examinations. One-way analysis variance (ANOVA) individual median NCS groups (improved, deteriorated, same). Results: The mean age 50 ± 11 years, 43 (88%) female. duration time 37 20 months. Median sensory peak latency motor distal increased significantly second evaluation (p=0.005 p=0.004, respectively). conduction velocity decreased (p=0.002). However, determined electrophysiologically did differ (p=0.286). Conclusion: Although there deterioration during follow-up period months, worsen.

The Usefulness of Calculated Electrophysiological Parameters in Assessing the Severity of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Background: Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is the most common type of mononeuropathy. Although CTS patients usually have sensory and motor latency in the EMG-NCV or EDX, a significant percentage (10-25%) of patients have a normal routine study. And if more complete diagnostic tests are not performed, it will not be diagnosed. We decided to identify this group of patients by calculating other meth...

Comparative electrophysiological techniques in the diagnosis of carpal tunnel syndrome in patients with diabetic polyneuropathy.

OBJECTIVE To determine utility of comparative electrophysiological techniques in differentiating carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) in the background of diabetic polyneuropathy (DPN). DESIGN Ninety diabetic patients were classified into three groups: normal, CTS, and DPN according to nerve conduction studies (NCSs). The patients in the DPN group were divided into two subgroups of DPN and DPN-CTS ac...

The Effects of Exercise Therapy on Functional Status in Patients with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Background: Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is one of the most commonly encountered peripheral nerve ending disorders that occurs after compression or strangulation of the median nerve in the wrist tunnel. The functional status is greatly impaired in the daily activities of a patient with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and may cause problems for the subjects. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate ...
